Peach plantation creates wealth for villagers

The peach plantation in Gaotian village, Shuangqiao township, Qujiang district, Quzhou, Zhejiang province recently entered harvest season.
This year's peach output is expected to be 60,000 kilograms, and 25,000 kilograms have been sold so far. The sales revenue is expected to reach 400,000 yuan ($58,576), said Chen Liming, owner of the 400-mu (26.67-hectare) peach plantation.
Chen's plantation has introduced 15 varieties of peaches, including honey peaches, yellow peaches and oil flat peaches. The peach plantation begins the picking period in May and ends in September or October.
In addition, Chen has extended the peach industrial chain. The second-class peaches in his plantation are used to make liquor. This year, 1,500 kilograms of peach liquor is expected to be produced, and the market price of the peach liquor is about 160 yuan per kilogram.
Over the past few years, Chen Liming has created job opportunities near for villagers near their homes. The labor cost this year alone is expected to reach 200,000 yuan.
Next year, Gaotian village will obtain dividends on land shares as Chen will extend his plantation in the village to 1,000 mu.
