Kaihua villagers earn money from growing sweet potatoes

Hongguang village in Chihuai town, Kaihua county, Quzhou, Zhejiang province started growing sweet potatoes in 2021, employing over 100 residents and bringing in 350,000 yuan ($51,935.4) for the village per year.
In 2021, Hongguang village cooperated with Zhejiang Yuba Agricultural Technology Co Ltd to grow sweet potatoes. The company is responsible for planting seedlings, growing and sales, while the village provides the necessary land.
Through an online and offline sales model, packaged sweet potatoes can be sold for 15-16 yuan per kilogram.
Cheng Guanglu, a 65-year-old resident of Hongguang village, helps dig sweet potatoes in the plantation. He used to grow vegetables at home without much income, but he can now earn 120 yuan a day.
