The 2022 Quzhou Foreign Investment Fair was held in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, from July 12 to 13, according to local media reports.

Representatives of 17 Japanese-funded enterprises and institutions in Suzhou attended the fair to discuss trade cooperation with the city.

Suzhou boasts frequent economic and trade exchanges with Japan. In 2021, the total value of its trade with Japan was $33.6 billion, accounting for half of Jiangsu's total trade with Japan and nearly 10 percent of the national total.

The number of Japanese-funded enterprises in Suzhou currently exceeds 1,500, and the actual use of Japanese capital is $13.7 billion.

Quzhou is vigorously developing six major industries, including new materials, new energy, integrated circuits, intelligent equipment, medicine and health, and specialty paper. It has strong commonality and complementarity with the development of related industries in Japan, as well as broad prospects for cooperation.

Zhu Churen, vice chairman of the Quzhou Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that he hoped to take this fair as an opportunity to strengthen economic and trade exchanges with Japan and deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Japanese entrepreneurs are encouraged to visit Quzhou, invest there, and share in development opportunities.
