The Tianchishan Tunnel, the longest tunnel of the Hangzhou-Quzhou high-speed railway, was dug through on July 5 after 733 days of work by the constructor China Railway 11th Bureau Group Co Ltd.
The Hangzhou-Quzhou railway is a high-speed railway channel connecting Hangzhou and Quzhou in Zhejiang Province. The Tianchishan Tunnel spans Jiande city in Hangzhou and Quzhou, with a total length of 4,154.51 meters.
The 130.92-km Hangzhou-Quzhou high-speed railway (Jiande-Quzhou section), with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, received a total of about 23.6 billion yuan ($3.51 billion) in investment.
It will consist of six stops, including Jiande Station, Jiande South Station and Longyou North Station.
The railway will form a multi-point connection between Quzhou and Hangzhou, which will relieve transportation pressure on the Hangzhou-Quzhou section of the Shanghai-Kunming Railway and support the development of the Hangzhou West Station hub.
The cumulative output value of the construction of the Hangzhou-Quzhou railway has reached 15.52 billion yuan, while the cumulative progress ratio of the construction has reached 71.35 percent.
