Quzhou Yongxin Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine Co Ltd in Quzhou, Zhejiang has transferred 626 mu (41.73 hectares) of land to cultivate Chinese medicinal materials in Huashu township, Kecheng district, and 350 mu of land is being used to plant fructus aurantii trees.

Fructus aurantii trees generally bear fruit after three years of cultivation. During harvest season, one mu of fructus aurantii trees can harvest 600 kilograms of dry fructus aurantii.

In 2020, the company produced a total of 15,000 kg of dry fructus aurantii and sold them to Zhejiang Conba Pharmaceutical Co Ltd at the price of 24 yuan ($3.58) per kilogram, said Zheng Yuexin, a higher-up at the company.

This year, Zheng spent more than 1 million yuan building a drying room for Chinese herbal medicine. The planting of medicinal materials can increase locals’ incomes, said Zheng. The company now pays 350,000 yuan a year in labor wages and more than 400,000 yuan a year in land rent.
