The tourism industry in Quzhou, Zhejiang recently saw a boost amid the current wave of COVID-19 after travel agencies and online travel companies were allowed to begin operating inter-provincial group tours and air ticket and hotel booking business, according to local media reports.

The tourism sector is expected to see a revival with the upcoming summer holiday.

Quzhou has also become a popular destination due to the reopening of inter-provincial group tours.

According to Jiang Huili, an employee at Quzhou New Century International Tourism Co Ltd, the company has received a dozen orders from Guangzhou in June, and tourists from Tianjin, Beijing and Jiangsu plan to visit in July.

In addition to visiting popular attractions in Quzhou, such as the Root Palace Buddhist Cultural Tourism Zone, Jianglang Mountain, and Nianbadu Ancient Town, travel agencies have also launched activities related to intangible cultural heritage items, such as making white porcelain, Shao Yongfeng sesame cakes, and Kaihua steamed cakes.

Quzhou's tourism market is expected to see a surge during the summer vacation, and free tickets for attractions in the city from Monday to Friday will reduce the costs of many travel agencies, added Jiang.
