Assistance from Ningbo enterprise brings prosperity to Fengxi village
The collective income of Fengxi village in Longyou county, Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, increased from 9,800 yuan ($1,457.5) in 2017 to over 240,000 yuan in 2021 due to help from Ningbo Zhoushan Port Co Ltd.
In June 2018, Ningbo Zhoushan Port Co Ltd started leveraging the village's resources to promote its development.
In 2019, Ningbo Zhoushan Port Co Ltd invested 2 million yuan in a property management project of Longyou Fumin Industrial Park, which has increased the collective operating income of Fengxi village by 120,000 yuan every year.
The well-protected natural environment of Fengxi village is suitable for planting yellow tea, which has strong market prospects due to its delicate fragrance, moist color and sweet taste.
In 2020, a yellow tea plantation covering an area of over 100 mu (6.67 hectares) was built on idle land in the village.
Meanwhile, low-income farmers in the village were hired to grow yellow tea. They can not only earn 400 to 600 yuan in rent per mu of land each year, but can also work near home.
In addition, the company invested 75,000 yuan and 26,000 yuan, respectively, to repair dilapidated houses of six elderly villagers and help 13 needy students in the village.
