The harvest season for tea has started in Shigu village, Kaihua county, Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, as Grain Rain starts on April 20.

The development of the tea industry in Shigu village has created jobs for locals and increased their wealth.

"I can earn about 200 yuan ($30.24) a day picking tea and managing the tea garden," said Fang Xingzhu, a resident of Shigu village. "I am happy to work near home which allows me to earn money while taking care of my family," Fang added.

Li Youlun and his wife have contracted 300 mu (20 hectares) of land in Shigu village to grow yellow tea since 2018.

The yellow tea in Li's tea garden is an improved variety of Huzhou Anji white tea. It contains 20 percent tea polyphenols and 9 percent amino acids, which is three to four times higher than ordinary tea.

Huangjinya, one of the best varieties of yellow tea, can be sold at a wholesale price of 3,000 yuan per kilogram, said Li.

In addition to yellow tea, Anji white tea in Li's tea garden enjoys strong sales and is continuously sold to Shanghai, Wuhu in Anhui, Nantong in Jiangsu and Anji in Zhejiang.
