Elderly Quzhou man embroiders Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival
Yang Wenshan, a resident of Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province who is now in his 80s, spent over three years embroidering a cross-stitch entitled Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival.
Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival is a renowned Song Dynasty (960-1279) scroll painting by artist Zhang Zeduan which shows prosperous scenes of the capital Bianjing (now Kaifeng in Henan province).

It took Yang two to three hours every day for the past three years to complete the 5.6-m-long and 0.54-m-wide cross-stitch.
With the help of a 108-page guidebook, the people, houses, trees, carriages and horses were added to the embroidered cloth using 78 different colors of threads.
After years of embroidering cross-stitches, Yang has come to see it as a hobby. Cross-stitching has enriched my life and brought me much happiness, said Yang.
