Qujiang district and Longyou county in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province were included on the 2021 list of Zhejiang major grain-producing areas, local media reported on Feb 23.

In 2021, the grain sown area in Qujiang district reached 308,750 mu (20,583 hectares) in size and the total output reached 129,500 metric tons, up 0.18 percent and 0.78 percent, respectively, over the previous year.

In addition, 6,750 mu of cultivated land for other uses in Qujiang district was cleaned up to replant grain crops. About 95.44 percent of abandoned cultivated land was resumed cultivation and planting, and 7,200 mu of high-standard cultivated land was created.

To increase the area for planting multiple crops, Longyou, a county in Quzhou, has introduced a new three-cropping system wherein 3,500 mu of cultivated land has been used to grow rapeseed, early rice and soybeans, and has realized 1,500 yuan ($237.3) per mu in annual income.
