Huren village in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province has emerged as a model in the city's pursuit of common prosperity.

Fruit plantation has been an important approach to pursue common prosperity taken by the village, which is situated in Gaojia town, Qujiang district.

The total fruit output in Daludian, a natural village administered by Huren, surpassed 60,000 kilograms in 2020, which was valued at over 3.2 million yuan ($492,307).

The output is expected to further increase with the launch of a 210-mu (14 hectares) orchard that is under construction in the village.

Villagers working in local orchards can earn 120 to 150 yuan per day, according to Wang Shuirong, Party chief of Huren village.

In addition, vegetables have also been grown on land transformed from roadside green belts and will be supplied to seniors aged 65 and above in the village for free in mid-December.

A public canteen covering a total area of 500 square meters has been erected in early 2020 to offer services for villagers who are unable to move freely, as well as for tourists visiting the village.

In April last year, part of the canteen was rented by a garment company founded by a local businessman.

Apart from paying the village over 1 million yuan in rent, the company has hired more than 90 residents, paying them an average monthly salary of 5,000 yuan.
