The 4th Sports Games of Zhejiang Province – the highest level and biggest sports meet in the region  – was officially opened on Oct 23 at the Quzhou Sports Center stadium in Quzhou city, located in the province in East China, according to local media reports.

Tang Feifan, Party secretary of Quzhou, extended his heartfelt welcome to participants from all walks of life, on behalf of the city's 2.57 million residents.

"Quzhou is the home to the Confucian ancestral hall for the southern branch of the Confucian family and is known as the birthplace of the game of Go," Tang said.

"The city also has a sound tradition and foundation for the development of sports," Tang added.

The games attracted the participation of 11 teams from cities and 12 industry representative teams, with top Zhejiang athletes competing in 46 events, with 457 sub-categories.
