Quzhou breaks new ground in developing common prosperity
The city of Quzhou – situated in East China's Zhejiang province – is aiming to make significant progress and breakthroughs in its bid to become a pilot demonstration zone for common prosperity by 2025, according to local media reports on Aug 19.
Quzhou was honored as the "2020 special contributor to the overall prosperity of China" at the 15th China Comprehensive Well-off forum – held last year in Zhongshan city, in the coastal province of Guangdong province in South China.
Adhering to its tenet that "industry is top priority" – and by focusing on industry, manufacturing and the real economy – Quzhou is putting forwards various strategies to develop itself as a pilot demonstration zone for common prosperity.
In the first six months of the year, the city and its administrative area's economy was reportedly stable with regional GDP at 87.43 billion yuan ($13.53 billion), up 13.2 percent on the same period last year.
In the second half, plans are for Quzhou to focus on seven areas – to continue its expansion as a strong industrial city, attract more investment projects, accelerate its development, boost its resident's incomes, implement practical measures that enhance the lives of its citizens, ensure risks are prevented and improve the performance and effectiveness of its cadres.
In addition, Quzhou, as a core "big-garden" city in Zhejiang, is strongly adhering to the concept of green development while seeking to improve the quality of its industrial development.
