Many NPC deputies and CPPCC National Committee members from East China's Zhejiang province made proposals related to digitization reform at last week's annual sessions of the national legislature and the top political advisory body.

Xu Guanju, an NPC deputy and chairman of Transfar Group, underlined that the development of the industrial internet is essential to aiding the digitalization of various industries.

"The empowerment of manufacturers with digital technologies is still at a preliminary phase. A large number of manufacturers are in urgent need of smart solutions to be provided by dedicated industrial internet platforms," said Xu.

Zheng Jie, an NPC deputy and chairman of the Zhejiang subsidiary of China Mobile, proposed applying digital technologies into urban governance and accelerating the development of a "digital twin city", an enormously complex system which makes all the factors of a city digitized and virtualized, all the states of a city visible in real time, and all the decision-making for the management of a city synchronized and intelligent.

Sheng Song'en, a CPPCC National Committee member and a top executive at the Zhejiang University of Technology, believes that digitization reform would seep into industrial development, ecology protection, education, culture, governance, and daily lives in rural areas to boost rural rejuvenation.

As a higher education practitioner, Sheng particularly values how digital technologies could transform compulsive education in rural villages. Sheng contends that distance learning could channel superior education resources from cities to villages and offer precise guidance and training for rural teachers and students.
