Farming studies culture in Longyou
Longyou county administered by Quzhou – the prefecture-level city in East China's Zhejiang province – has always attached great importance to agrarian studies in its traditional Chinese education, according to local officials.
Studying ploughing was not only central to the land-based way of life, it was also the means to a fundamental combination of farming and studies during the agrarian age -- dating back the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing dynasties (1644-1911).
Officials said that with the prosperity of agriculture, came more and more local academies.
In Longyou, among the residential houses, there was a school of academy, whose prototype is located at Beidui village, Xikou town in Longyou.
With the prosperity of civilization of coming from agrarian studies, many children of farmers left to become officials or merchants in Longyou.
After prospering, merchants bought fields and houses, expanded production, stimulated spending and promoted the economic development of the county.
