Scenic runs, cultural delights await in Ningbo

As spring breathes new life into Ningbo, Zhejiang province, the city is gearing up for a season of outdoor adventures. Blending sports with cultural tourism, it is rolling out a packed schedule from marathons to cycling and hiking trips to inspire athletes and travelers alike.

Leading the charge is the 2025 Ninghai Marathon, set for March 16, which will draw thousands to its full marathon, half marathon, and fun run.

To enhance the experience, runners enjoy free entry into scenic attractions like Qiantong Ancient Town, renowned for its well-preserved ancient architecture, and the breathtaking Lianghuang Mountain, where visitors can take in its dramatic waterfalls. Additionally, the coastal tranquility of Ninghai Bay and the stunning geological wonders of Wushan Stone Caves await exploration.

Following closely is the 2025 Fenghua Marathon on March 22, welcoming 15,000 runners, including international participants from Kenya, Russia, the United States, Malaysia, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. The route will be lined with over 70 performances, blending traditional culture with modern artistic expressions. From folk heritage displays to street dance and yoga showcases, the event promises an immersive cultural experience. Participants can also take advantage of free entry to Fenghua attractions such as Xikou-Tengtou Scenic Area and Maitreya Altar, along with exclusive hotel discounts.

Other races of interest are the Hangzhou Bay Wetland Eco Run on April 12 that gives you the chance to run alongside nature, and the 2025 Xiangshan Coastal Marathon on April 13 with a spectacular oceanfront course. With waves crashing alongside the track, participants can refuel post-run with Ningbo's famed seafood noodles and local delicacies.
