2025 ISSF World Cup set for Ningbo
Ningbo, Zhejiang province, has secured its place as the host city for the 2025 ISSF World Cup, one of the world's premier shooting competitions.
The International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) signed an agreement with the Chinese Shooting Federation on Feb 18, and additionally, a joint hosting contract was signed by the Chinese Shooting Federation, Sport Bureau of Zhejiang Province, and the People's Government of Ningbo Municipality.
As one of the three most prestigious international shooting tournaments, the ISSF World Cup is a key event for Olympic qualification. This September, more than 1,000 elite shooters from around 70 countries and regions will compete in Ningbo, delivering world-class performances for shooting enthusiasts worldwide.
ISSF President Luciano Rossi said China has made significant contributions to the global shooting community.
After inspecting the event facilities and accommodations in Ningbo, Rossi expressed confidence in the city's ability to deliver an outstanding event. He said that Ningbo has extensive experience in hosting international events, top-tier facilities, and outstanding event management capabilities.
China has long been a dominant force in shooting sports and has produced multiple world champions and Olympic medalists. Ningbo, in particular, has developed top athletes such as Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Yang Qian and multiple Asian Games champion Wang Chengyi. Rising stars like Feng Sixuan and Liu Junhui have also made their mark internationally, reinforcing Ningbo's reputation as a leader in this field.
In recent years, Ningbo has successfully staged major international tournaments, including the Women's Volleyball Olympic Qualifier, the Badminton Asia Championships, and the WTA Ningbo Open. With its advanced sports infrastructure and growing profile as a premier competition venue, the city is set to deliver an exceptional ISSF World Cup in 2025.
