Twenty international teachers and students from NingboTech University visited Xikou town in Fenghua district, Ningbo, on Jan 20.
They engaged in activities such as exploring ancient architecture, experiencing tea ceremonies, and practicing calligraphy. These activities offered them a deep understanding of China's rural vitalization and the endless charm of traditional folk customs.
Dongshan village in Xiou town has leveraged its natural beauty and unique homestay industry to develop rural tourism. Villagers now find employment and entrepreneurial opportunities locally. The foreign visitors experienced the historical depth of the village, modern pastoral life, and scenes of rural vitalization.
At Songci Vegetarian Restaurant, the visitors learned traditional Chinese tea art from a tea master and enjoyed the aroma and history of Chinese tea culture.
The highlight was the calligraphy session, where they wrote the character for "fortune" and added their own wishes in their native languages on red paper. This activity allowed them to appreciate the beautiful connotations of Chinese traditional culture.
"I love Chinese traditional culture and the unique charm of Xikou town's folk customs," said Magda, a foreign teacher from the university. "This is my first time writing fu (Chinese for "fortune"), and I hope it brings me good luck."
