For Zhejiang's 66 million residents, the provincial government's annual list of wellbeing projects serves as a roadmap to a better life.
"Hosting 10,000 public fitness events" stood out to Jin Jinfu, Party secretary of Zhuji city and deputy to the third session of the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, which is underway in Hangzhou from Jan 14 to 17.
Zhuji's grassroots "Cun BA" basketball tournament has become a cultural phenomenon, demonstrating how community-driven projects can have outsized impacts.
Zhejiang's 2025 agenda, announced during the third session of the congress, features similarly targeted initiatives, including upgrading old elevators in residential buildings, improving school cafeterias, and enhancing rest stations for outdoor workers.
Jin noted that these "small but vital" projects strike a chord with the public.
He mentioned that in 2024, the province installed 55,000 public EV charging stations. The initiative resolved drivers' concerns while ensuring full coverage in villages and highway service areas, positioning Zhejiang as a national leader in EV infrastructure.
"There's no such thing as a small issue when it comes to people's lives," Jin said. "Every project, no matter how simple, must be handled with care and precision."
