More than 10 international students from Taizhou University gathered in Du'ao village in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, on Dec 19, to experience making rice cakes, immersing themselves in traditional Chinese culture.

A local rice cake maker demonstrated how to make rice cakes, while Zhang Lijun from the village committee explained the customs around rice cakes. International students eagerly took turns to try their hands at pounding rice cakes.

Meanwhile, the prepared rice cakes were cut into sections, and the students were taught how to shape the cakes using pressing and kneading techniques. Under professional guidance, they crafted rice cakes in a variety of shapes, like fish and flowers.

Subsequently, the group visited Xiaochou village, where they learned about its connection with loquats. They then toured the loquat production lines at a "common prosperity workshop" and savored the renowned loquat drink.
