Zhenhai district, in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, is driving urban-rural integration and modernizing its agricultural sector.
Utilizing its natural resources and strategic location, Zhenhai has developed high-quality produce and vitalized its rural economy.
In 2024, the district's signature crops, including tomatoes and strawberries, earned 19 gold and 28 silver awards in provincial competitions. "Zhenhai Tomatoes", in particular, stood out in the 2024 "Best Tomatoes in Zhejiang" contest, earning shared praises for their quality.
Agricultural innovation has powered this growth, with niche products like cherry tomatoes and strawberries gaining market traction. Both "Zhenhai Tomatoes" and "Zhenhai Strawberries" secured national geographical indication trademarks this year.
By October, Zhenhai's 43 administrative villages reported a collective operating income of over 126 million yuan ($17.29 million), a 19 percent increase year-over-year.
