Laorentou, a century-old brand in Wenzhou, made a remarkable showing at the 2024 Lineapelle, the international leather fair held in Milan, Italy, from Sept 17 to 19.
Lineapelle is one of the world's most prestigious professional leather fairs and a key international event for the leather, accessories, footwear, synthetic materials, and textile industries.
To fully showcase the brand's charm, the Laorentou team presented a series of shoes created in partnership with the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. The designs blend traditional Chinese floral patterns with the elegance of blue calico, a national intangible cultural heritage item, infusing the products with newfound vitality through modern design.
"I have always been interested in Chinese culture. Seeing products that integrate Chinese culture into the design here in Italy deepens my respect and love for Chinese culture," said Marco Antonio, an Italian businessman.
Ye Qiong, brand manager of Laorentou Shangpin Co, explained that the exhibition featured a combination of products, fashion shows, forums, and other cultural exchange activities, highlighting the collaboration between the company and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.
Ye Qihao, a fourth-generation Laorentou product maker, said he hoped that through the fair, the brand can showcase the exceptional craftsmanship and unique charm of Chinese shoemaking to the world, while also absorbing international fashion elements and innovative ideas.
