Wenzhou athletes Wen Zaidin, Huang Jingye head to Paris Olympics
The Chinese National Sailing and Windsurfing Team held a departure ceremony in Dongshan county, Fujian, as they prepare to leave for the Paris Olympics.
Thirteen athletes will be among the first from the Chinese delegation to head to Paris. Among them are four from Zhejiang: sailors Xu Zangjun and Wen Zaidin and windsurfers Yan Zheng and Huang Jingye. Wen and Huang are both from Cangnan, Wenzhou.
Wenzhou has eight athletes who qualified for the Paris Olympics. Wen and Huang are the first to depart.
Wen, born in 2001, joined the Zhejiang provincial sailing and windsurfing team in 2012. He won gold in the men's 49er event at the Hangzhou Asian Games. Huang, born in 2002, won U21 titles in national competitions in 2022 and 2023.
The Paris Olympics will run from July 26 to Aug 11, with sailing and windsurfing events from July 28 to Aug 8.
