Zhejiang screens for colorectal cancer among over a million people
Authorities in East China's Zhejiang province are focusing on screening for colorectal cancer among a population of over a million people, as part of the long-term plan for the entire population in the province to enjoy a better life.
Regular screening is one of the most effective measures for preventing colorectal cancer.
In the 2023 campaign to improve residents' livelihood in Zhejiang, one area of focus was the screening for colorectal cancer among 1.1 million high-risk individuals.
Over the past year, Zhejiang province has utilized a closely knit county-level medical consortium framework to conduct initial screenings at community health service centers, clinics, and other consortium member units.
Additionally, a green channel for colonoscopy precision screening has been established at designated examination units.
Thus far, the province has now screened for colorectal cancer in over 2.1 million people.
Within the next five years, free colorectal cancer screening for the entire targeted population is expected to be offered.
