The Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism recently announced the first batch of 53 provincial intangible cultural heritage experience bases, including the Longyou steamed sponge cake production skills experience base.

Longyou steamed sponge cake is a specialty from Longyou county, Quzhou city. It is well known for its unique flavors and exquisite production techniques, and very popular as a holiday gift because the pronunciation of "steamed sponge cake" sounds like "more blessings" in Chinese.

The staff of the Quzhou culture, radio, film and tourism bureau said that the provincial experience bases are larger and more focused on experiences than the traditional craft workstations and intangible cultural heritage workshops.

The Longyou steamed sponge cake production skill experience base has been active in organizing various activities such as training courses and academic exchanges. It has also invited local students to visit the practice base and learn about food testing technologies and food safety science education.

The base aims to give full play to the role of intangible cultural heritage in culture and tourism integration and promote the contemporary practice and modern life of intangible cultural heritage.
