The musical Nan Kong was held at the Hangzhou Canal Grand Theater from Aug 28 to 30. It is China's first musical that centers around the Confucian culture in South China and is derived from classic historical stories.
The musical tells the tale of Kong Zhu, the 53rd direct descendant of Confucius, who, following Emperor Yuan's decree, relinquishes his title and returns to Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, dedicating himself to the promotion of Confucian culture.
In September, the musical will move to Quzhou and Beijing. In November, it will head to Xiamen and serve as part of the second National Excellent Musical Theatre Exhibition.
