With the approach of the 19th Asian Games, all kinds of flowers produced in Haining, a county-level city of Jiaxing in Zhejiang province, are being transported to Hangzhou to adorn the city's roads, parks and Asian Games venues.

In early May, the company started supplying many different types of flowers for the Games, said You Guojun, general manager of Baisheng Horticulture Co Ltd.

Baisheng Horticulture in Tianming village, Chang'an town, has adjusted production and flower planting varieties to accommodate the Games. So far, the company has received more than 200,000 orders for the event.

Chang'an town in Haining is the largest fresh-cut flower production base in Zhejiang province and revolves around the flower industry.

The town's flower planting area has expanded to more than 6,300 mu (420 hectares) over the past few decades, and the output value of the flower industry totaled 250 million yuan in 2022.

"In recent years, the village has planted a lot of flowers. They are both pretty and provide jobs. We can now work close to home," said Yang Ming, a 73-year-old resident of Tianming village.
