Lishui photography expert shines at preeminent UK festival
Influential photographer Wang Peiquan – from Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – was a high-profile participant at the United Kingdom's Format Festival experts meeting online recently, becoming the only Chinese expert in this event.
Wang was invited to comment on photos taken by photographers and answer their questions.
He is deputy director of the publicity department of the Lishui municipal Party committee, director of the China Photographers Association and vice-chairman of the Zhejiang Photographers Association.
The Format Festival is the largest, most professional and influential photography festival in the UK. Founded in the city of Derby in 2004, it is held every two years. The experts meeting is one of its important activities.
Wang has long been involved in the organization and planning of the Lishui Photography Festival and the World Photography Conference – both held in Lishui.
Since 2019, the Lishui Photography Festival and the Format Festival have cooperated deeply and they established the Lishui Photography Festival Special Award.
Lishui's outstanding natural beauty makes it a photographer's heaven. In 1999, it was named the first "China's Hometown of Photography" by the China Photographers Association.
In 2004, Lishui held its first photography festival, which was held every two years thereafter. As a result, after more than 20 years of developments, Lishui's photography has established a leading position in China and a well-known position internationally.
