Hangzhou art exhibitions paint the wonders of the Southern Song Dynasty
Five exhibitions opened at the art museum of the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Mar 18 to celebrate the city's booming cultural and art scene when it served as the capital of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279).
The exhibitions will feature classic paintings — 10 of which date back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279) — loaned from major museums across the country, including the Palace Museum in Beijing, Tianjin Museum, and Zhejiang Provincial Museum. It will also feature calligraphic pieces to showcase the Song era to visitors, showing how Chinese cultural traditions have been passed on throughout centuries.
