A total of 16 stations of the Jinhua downtown-Yiwu section of the Jinhua-Yiwu-Dongyang urban rail line, started trial operations on Aug 30.

The Jinhua-Yiwu-Dongyang line, the first rail transit project in Jinhua, started construction on July 28, 2017. With a total length of 107.17 kilometers and a total investment of 34.7 billion yuan ($5.18 billion), the line has 31 stations, making it the longest single municipal rail transit line in China.

The line operates at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, and has a maximum one-way transport capacity of 60,000 people per hour.

The rail is composed of the Jinhua downtown-Yiwu section and the Yiwu-Dongyang (Hengdian) section. Passengers can transfer between the two lines at Qintang Station in Yiwu at the same platform.

The 58.4-km Jinhua downtown-Yiwu section of the urban rail system - Jinhua Station to Qintang Station - carried out free test rides on Jan 11. As of Aug 29, a total of 4.84 million passengers have sampled the ride. It costs 12 yuan to travel from Jinhua Station to Qintang Station.

The Jinhua-Yiwu-Dongyang urban rail line is operating from 6:30 am to 9:55 pm during its initial run. There will be two kinds of trains – one that stops at every station and one that stops at only six large stations. It is expected to take about 55 minutes to travel form Jinhua Station to Qintang Station while stopping at every station.

The train that only stops at six large stations will run twice a day. Passengers can take it at Jinhua Station, South Bayi Street Station, New District Station, Qintang Station (Jinhua-Yiwu section), Renmin Road Station, and Gymnasium Station. A single trip takes about 67 minutes.
