E-commerce trade has been flourishing in Yiwu, East China's Zhejiang province, with turnover rising 10.72 percent from a year earlier to 209.75 billion yuan ($31.06 billion) in the first half of this year, according to official data released on July 24.

From January to June this year, domestic e-commerce trade increased by 11.14 percent year-on-year to 152.5 billion yuan, while cross-border e-commerce trade totaled 57.25 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.61 percent.

Yiwu, known as China's small commodity hub, saw its e-commerce and digital economy grow rapidly despite the COVID-19 epidemic.

Zheng Yusong, a shopkeeper at the Yiwu International Trade Market Area 5, said e-commerce platforms and live-steaming platforms such as Douyin have become main sales channel.

The city also made the list of the top 100 counties in China in terms of e-commerce competitiveness in 2021 by Xiaokang magazine, which conducted a comprehensive evaluation of China's county-level regions based on network big data, county special research, social public attitude and expert evaluation.
