Zhu Miaoyin, Party secretary of the Yuedu community in Fushan sub-district, Yuecheng district, Shaoxing, and a delegate to the 15th Communist Party of China (CPC) Zhejiang Provincial Congress, recently shared about her work experiences in an interview with local media.
According to Zhu, her key responsibility is to understand and fulfill the needs of those who live in the community she is in charge of. To do so, she makes frequent home visits.
During one visit, she learned that many elderly residents were interested to learn new things and enrich themselves. As such, she came up with the idea of building a community college that would offer courses on calligraphy, music, yoga, and the use smart phones. She also contacted local authorities to help source teachers and facilities.
Due to her tireless efforts, Zhu eventually attracted more than 70 organizations to provide support to the college.
At present, Zhu is working with several institutions to promote the implementation of various projects that benefit the people. These projects are related to ensuring safety in construction projects, epidemic prevention and control, and services that help improve people's livelihoods.
Zhu, who has been serving the community for two decades, said she is very pleased with how it is developing.
When asked about the secret behind building a flourishing community, Zhu had just four words to say: be a true listener.
