An exhibition displaying artworks related to Chinese poetry culture opened at the Zhejiang Exhibition Hall in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on March 6.

The exhibition, organized by the China Academy of Art, features a collection of artworks derived from a field trip to the Tang Poetry Road in Zhejiang.

In the Tang Dynasty (618-907), nearly 500 poets were inspired by the mountains and waters along the road and wrote over 1,500 poems during their trips. When a piece of land is transformed by poetry into a place where the heart dwells, its mountains and rivers become more than scenery.

Following in their predecessors' footsteps, more than 500 artists, including students and teachers at CAA, went on a trip to places along the road and carried out in-depth studies into the stories left by ancient poets.

In the process, they integrated what they observed and heard into their own art creations, which are now on display to showcase modern insights into ancient poetry.

Gao Shiming, president of CAA, said poems written in the Tang Dynasty have nourished the souls of Chinese people for centuries, which make them something worth exploring.

The exhibition will run until March 18.
