Twenty-two companies from Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province recently made the list of the sixth batch of national green factories released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, accounting for 44 percent of the province's total.
The number of listed companies was more than any other municipality with independent planning status in China.
In addition, three supply chains from the city were designated national green supply chains, while 32 products were honored as green design products.
Ningbo has been focusing on green, low-carbon and sustainable development in recent years.
In the first 11 months of this year, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size in the city grew by 12.9 percent year-on-year, while energy consumption of these companies decreased by 5 percent.
Partnering with the Ningbo branch of the China Construction Bank, the local government has also rolled out related financing products to support the efforts by enterprises to minimize their impact on environment through technical upgrading.
To date, 58 enterprises have obtained such loans with a combined value of 2.13 billion yuan ($327.7 million).
A head official from the Ningbo municipal bureau of economy and information technology said that the city will sustain its efforts in facilitating green transformation in the petrochemical and casting sectors, with the ultimate goal of becoming a national model in green manufacturing.
