Zhejiang's cultural strength in figures
East China's Zhejiang province is a high achiever in culture-related causes among Chinese provinces.
The province is currently home to nine million registered volunteers, and all of its 11 cities at or above prefecture-level have become "national civilized cities".
Over the past five years, more than 800 artworks from Zhejiang, including paintings, books, movies, and TV series, have been displayed at national-level exhibitions or conferred with top prizes.
Over the same period, the number of animated films, online dramas, and TV series made in Zhejiang ranked first, second, and third, respectively, among all provinces. Zhejiang producers delivered more than 100 documentary films, one of the highest numbers among Chinese provinces.
Zhejiang is home to three UNESCO-recognized world cultural heritage items, 281 cultural relic sites under national-level protection, and 217 national-level intangible cultural heritage items.
Four Zhejiang-based enterprises, namely Zhejiang Daily Press Group, Zhejiang Publishing United Group, Wasu Digital TV Media Group, and Songcheng Performance Development Co, have made it into China's top 30 companies in the culture industry.
The average floor space of public libraries and cultural facilities for every 10,000 residents in Zhejiang ranks second nationwide.
