An exhibition showcasing the unearthed relics from the Mawangdui tombs of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) in Hunan province was held in Jiaxing Museum, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on July 15, local media reported.

A total of 130 pieces of intact handicrafts were on display. These items included the thinnest ancient plain silk gauze garment, the earliest astronomy book in the world and 22 other top national cultural relics.

Yu Yanjiao, director of the research and exhibition center of the Mawangdui tombs at Hunan Museum, and Yang Rulin from the China Silk Museum were invited to give a lecture about the Mawangdui tombs and the evolution of ancient Chinese dresses.

The evolution of the Chinese dress was presented through four shows about the clothing in the ancient times, in the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24), in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and in modern times.
