The Wenzhou College of Science & Technology was officially founded in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on April 21, becoming the city's first higher-learning institute dedicated to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects.

The college's predecessor, Oujiang College at Wenzhou University, was founded in January 2000.

On Jan 27, the Ministry of Education approved Oujiang College's application to be upgraded to an independent university called the Wenzhou College of Science & Technology.
