The Jinhua municipal government and Zhejiang University (ZJU) in Hangzhou have inked agreements on comprehensive strategic cooperation and the establishment of a research institute in the city on April 14, an indication that Jinhua has entered a new phase in high-level scientific innovation platform construction.

The institute will be located in Jinhua Science City and Jinhua Center • Digital Economy Industry Park.

Using the resources from ZJU's colleges of information science and electronic engineering and pharmaceutical sciences, the institute will establish two innovation centers and one platform to support the development of two pillar industries in Jinhua – the information and technology industry and the biological medicine industry.

According to Wang Jianguo, head of Jinhua municipal science and technology bureau,  the new institute will help Jinhua become an innovative city and a high-level talent pool, and facilitate the development of the Jinyi scientific innovation hub.
