As the spring season continues, the first firefly festival kicked off on March 29 – in Jiulong National Wetland Park in Lishui city, in East China's Zhejiang province – with the eagerly anticipated event set to run to April 15.

Lishui is a city renowned for its wonderful ecology and pristine environment and it has been making efforts to protect its ecology as well as develop its eco-tourism. Jiulong Wetland Park, one of the destinations for the initiative, has become a popular place to observe the habitat of fireflies.

With the opening of the festival, these twinkling and fascinating little creatures are expected to be a hot favorite for visitors to the park.
