Young members of the Communist Party of China should work, and make their contributions, in places where the Party and the people need them, a deputy to the National People's Congress said on Friday.
Young Party members should obtain strength through hard work by learning the history of the Party and the spirit of revolutionary predecessors, Yuan Jing, a museum guide at the Memorial Hall of Revolution at Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, said before the opening of the NPC annual session.
A century ago, a group of young people, whose average age was 28, risked their lives and concluded the first CPC National Congress on a red boat on Nanhu Lake, Yuan said.
Now the red boat and the Nanhu Lake have become a museum and a symbol of the revolutionary spirit of the CPC. Over the past five years, 8.92 million visits have been made to the museum.
As a guide at the museum, Yuan has seen many people come to review Party history and Party members' original aspirations.
"As young Party members, we should learn from senior members' spirit of sacrificing themselves to accomplish a great undertaking, and take serving the country and the society as a way to realize our personal value," she said.
