The China (Zhejiang) International Cooperation Zone for the Film and TV Industry, located in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, was ranked third  among China's culture exportation bases, according to the results of a comprehensive assessment recently announced by the Ministry of Commerce.

Backed by the Ministry of Commerce and the Zhejiang provincial government, the zone has made remarkable achievements in spreading Chinese culture and boosting the province's culture service trade in recent years.

Zhejiang's foreign trade for culture services stood at 14.16 billion yuan ($2.19 billion) in 2020, up 14.45 percent year-on-year. The exportation of cultural services was worth 13.16 billion yuan in 2020, up 26.91 percent year-on-year. Film, television, and animation works, digital culture products, as well as creative design have become the main exports for the province's culture trade.

In November 2020, the zone launched China's first ever cloud platform for transactions involving film and television works, serving the cross-border trade of such exporters nationwide.

NetEase, a Hangzhou-based internet giant, has been taking the national lead in exporting video games, generating over 80 million yuan in such exports last year.

Huahong Group, a Yiwu-based painting exporter, established a design center in North America in 2020 to promote Chinese-style artworks overseas.

Zoland Cartoon Co, based in Hangzhou, has forged strategic partnerships with numerous television channels in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas to broadcast its animation works.

Zhejiang Publishing United Group has made outstanding contributions in expanding China's overseas cultural influence by running a dozen online bookstores targeting countries including Russia, Australia, and the United States.

Zhejiang's producers and investors have engaged in numerous film and television works that have gained great popularity both at home and abroad, such as On the Road, Like a Flowing River, Song of Youth, Monkey King: Hero Is Back, Operation Red Sea, and Story of Yanxi Palace.
