Narrowing regional gap

The urbanization rate for the population of Zhejiang's permanent residents rose from 65.8 percent in 2015 to 71 percent in 2020.

The drinking water quality in rural and urban areas has basically become equal.

The per capita annual income ratio of urban residents to rural residents dropped from 2.07 in 2015 to 1.96 in 2020.

Every county in Zhejiang is now connected to expressways

Of the 26 counties in Zhejiang's mountainous region, 18 maintained an above-average economic growth rate and 25 maintained an above-average growth rate in residents' incomes.

Opening-up

Zhejiang's exports accounted for 14 percent of the country's total in 2020, up 1.9 percentage points from 2015.

The actual utilization of foreign investment accumulated throughout the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) period was $65.6 billion, up 38 percent from that throughout the 12th Five-Year (2011-2015) period.

The China (Zhejiang) Free Trade Pilot Zone was established in the port city of Zhoushan and its outlying islands in April 2017. It expanded to include three new areas in Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Jinhua in September 2020.

All of Zhejiang's 11 cities at or above prefecture-level have been designated national comprehensive pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce.

The province's Ningbo Zhoushan Port ranked first in the world in terms of annual cargo throughput for the past 12 consecutive years and was among the world's top three in terms of container throughput for the past three years.

The airplane passenger throughput for the entire province surpassed 70 million in 2020.

Through the G20 Hangzhou Summit in 2016 and the World Internet Conference annually held in Wuzhen since 2014, Zhejiang's international profile greatly increased.
