Zhejiang government gives briefing on pandemic control
The Zhejiang Provincial Government hosted the 56th Press Conference on Pandemic Prevention and Control on Nov 16.
Officials announced that as of 12 pm on Nov 15 the province had reported no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases for 152 consecutive days, and had seven patients still being treated and 37 asymptomatic or suspected cases, all of which were imported cases.
The province is determined to stay alert to a possible resurgence of infections in the coming winter and spring. Zhejiang is set to further strengthen coronavirus detection efforts on cold-chain food, at important sites, and among vulnerable groups of people by increasing the frequency of regular detections. Zhejiang will also disinfect and ensure the traceability of packages and transportation for imported cold-chain food, while also working to strengthen protection for relevant personnel and wharf workers.
Zhejiang has been successful in carrying out relief and emergency treatment for crews of ships coming in from abroad. A total of 27,000 crew members from more than 2,200 ships that have landed in Zhejiang ports this year were relieved of duty and returned home after undergoing necessary testing and quarantine procedures. Zhejiang ports have also managed to successfully contain COVID-19 infections on 34 foreign ships and treated 112 crew members.
