The third China International Import Expo (CIIE) concluded in Shanghai on Nov 10. The six-day import fair saw the signing of $72.62 billion worth of intended deals, up 2.1 percent from last year's expo.

According to the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce, the Zhejiang trade mission to the 3rd CIIE, one of the expo's largest buyers, saw a 23.16-percent growth in the value of intended deals.

High-tech equipment represented the largest proportion (29.17 percent) of the total value of Zhejiang's purchases at the expo, followed by healthcare products (21.45 percent), consumer goods (19.13 percent), and agricultural products (16.36 percent).

The Zhejiang trade mission's first purchase at this year's expo was made by Zhejiang Loong Airlines, a cargo airline headquartered in Hangzhou, which bought $636 million worth of airplane engines and related maintenance services from US-French joint venture CFM.

The province's medical institutions signed $1.6 billion worth of purchasing deals with global medical giants such as Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Danaher.

Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical Co, based in the island city of Zhoushan, inked a cooperation agreement with oil giant Royal Dutch Shell, involving a project worth $110 million.

Zhejiang authorities also hosted more than 100 investment promotion activities during the 3rd CIIE, which led to 16 investment projects involving Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders.
