The 2020 China Daishan Island International Kite Festival was held both online and offline in Daidong town on Daishan Island, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 7, local media reported.
Thirty-five teams from China participated in the event, together with 23 teams from other countries which took part online.
The competition event includes three competition programs – modern kite flying, traditional kite flying, and performing kite flying.
Participants from other countries uploaded kite flying videos they had previously recorded, and judges gave a mark to these videos at the event.
"Daishan is one of the places in China that is perfect for flying kites," said Yao Qingshan, a coach at Wuhan Kite Association who has participated in the Daishan festival many times, adding that the festival's quality has been improving year by year.
"Daishan has enjoyed a greater popularity among lovers of kite flying in recent years," noted Wang Jiahua, who is in charge of the performing kite flying competition at the festival.
