Zhejiang Ocean University joins Sino-Russian University Alliance

Zhejiang Ocean University (ZJOU) in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, joined the Sino-Russian University Alliance on Oct 18, local media reported.
The news was announced at a seminar on Sino-Russian cooperation in running schools and the second meeting of the alliance, which was held at Jiangsu Normal University in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province.
Wang Jinbao, director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department of ZJOU, was invited to deliver a report on cooperation between ZJOU and Russian universities.
Tang Zhenfu of the China Education Association for International Exchange gave a speech on quality guarantees for school-running cooperation between China and other countries.
Meanwhile, representatives from 13 Sino-Russian universities around the country discussed the sharing of high-quality teaching resources, Russian teaching methods, and online courses amid COVID-19.
Founded in 2019, the Sino-Russian University Alliance has 23 members, including 10 educational institutions.
In recent years, China and Russia have made strong progress in cooperation in various fields. Russia is an important strategic partner for China, as well as an important participant of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
ZJOU has recently been seeking stronger cooperation with Russia, achieving fruitful results.
Wang Jinbao said that joining the alliance will further enhance the university's cooperation with Russian universities and help it better serve the national BRI strategy.
