A bus route designed to meet the travel demands of disabled people in Hangzhou was recently put into operation, local media reported.
Route 582, which in Chinese sounds like "I will help you", is serviced by buses that have been specially configured for disabled people. Special features include a slope at the back door to help wheelchair riders board and alight, and more spacious interiors to accommodate wheelchair users.
The route, which starts and ends at Liugongyuan Bus Station, takes passengers around West Lake, the picturesque landmark of Hangzhou, and through various commercial areas.
Citizens traveling alone or in groups should book the bus service a week in advance by dialing 571-8519-1122, Ext 2, between 8:30 am to 5 pm, Mondays to Fridays.
