Zhoushan's gross domestic product (GDP) reported a yearly uptick of 11.9 percent in the first half of this year, faster than any other city in East China's Zhejiang province, official data show.
The industrial output among companies above designated size in the city soared 72.1 percent year-on-year, also ranking first among Zhejiang cities.
From January to June, the city's imports and exports were valued at 83.42 billion yuan ($12 billion), representing a jump of 55.3 percent year-on-year.
Ports in Zhoushan saw stable growth in cargo throughput, handling 284.07 million metric tons of cargo in the first half of the year, up 7.1 percent.
Fixed asset investment climbed 3.6 percent, and online retail sales among the above-quota wholesale and retail enterprises doubled.
As of the end of June, a total of 9,204 new jobs had been created in urban areas, with the unemployment rate sitting at 1.53 percent, lower than both the national and provincial averages.
Meanwhile, the number of newly registered businesses in Zhejiang FTZ increased 1.8 percent to 3,422, and the supply of bunker oil in the zone increased 5.8 percent year-on-year to more than two million metric tons.
In addition, the zone's cross-border RMB settlements totaled 67.91 billion yuan, surging 27.2 percent year-on-year.
