With the 2020 Silk Road Week starting today in Hangzhou, the China National Silk Museum is putting on themed exhibitions to showcase ancient paintings, antiques and various documents marking the civilizations which the ancient route passed through.
Various exhibits have been loaned from museums across the country, including a precious colored painting on a silk scroll depicting the story of Cai Wenji, a talented woman who lived during the late Eastern Han Dynasty (184-220), returning to her homeland.
