The First Affiliated Hospital of the College of Medicine at Zhejiang University signed a cooperation deal with the government of Yuhang district on June 13 to build the headquarters of an affiliated hospital in the district.

The hospital headquarters are expected to cover an area of 24.39 hectares and include 3,500 beds. The hospital was the first affiliated hospital established by Zhejiang University and has a rating of IIIA (highest level).

The hospital provides comprehensive services including research, education and health care. It leads the world in the fields of organ transplantation as well as the treatment of epidemic, blood and kidney diseases.

Early in 2011, the government of Yuhang district agreed to partner with the First Affiliated Hospital of the College of Medicine at Zhejiang University to build the Yuhang branch of the hospital, which is estimated to start operations in the second half of this year.

The hospital's decision to locate its headquarters in the Future Sci-Tech city in Yuhang is partly attributable to the city and district's fast growth in recent years.

In 2019, Yuhang came in 7th place among China's top 100 districts in terms of comprehensive strength, and the Future Sci-Tech City has gathered a large number of high-tech firms and high-caliber skilled workers over the past few years.

According to an official with the management committee of the Future Sci-Tech City, they hope to provide high-quality medical services for local skilled workers and residents in Yuhang through the new hospital.
